CHUAN WAVE – A Music Spectacle
Concert Visuals for Resorts World Sentosa
The Overview
For CHUAN WAVE – A Music Spectacle at Resorts World Sentosa, we developed the artists’ visual direction and rough storyboard ideas into animated concert visuals for Mandopop singers Hailai Amu and Alan Dawa Dolma, displayed across the centre and vertical LED screens.
Sichuan’s mountains, lakes and scenic landscapes became the visual thread running through the performance. The scenery changed with each song, following the music without taking attention away from the singers and dancers.
With less than two weeks for production, generative tools became part of the image-development process, giving our artists more room to explore ideas early on. From there, they handled the compositing, animation, transitions and final refinements in After Effects.
The centre and vertical LED screens also needed different approaches. What worked on the large centre screen did not always translate directly to the narrower vertical screens, so framing, movement and composition were adjusted for each format while keeping the visuals connected across the stage.
By showtime, the final delivery covered everything from artist openings and dance transitions to song-specific graphics, key visuals and the credit roll. Some visuals followed the full duration of the music, while others were built as animated loops, all moving with the live performance across the ballroom screens.
